Job Description

Busy West Hartford Ophthalmology practice (with 9 satellite locations), looking for an ophthalmic technician with experience. Must be detail-orientated and a team player to work in a friendly fast paced environment. We have a completely computerized office including electronic medical records. Ophthalmic Technician will assist the Physicians with diagnostic testing, preliminary patient evaluations and other assigned tasks not limited to the Clinical Department.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
No immediate supervisory responsibilities
Duties/Responsibilities:
Complete preliminary patient evaluations with a high level of accuracy, efficiently and in accordance with Solinsky EyeCare standards Gather and verify the patient's ocular history, medical history, and chief complaint Take ocular measurements as assigned by the physician (i.e., Manual Refraction (preferred) + Auto Refraction) Perform diagnostic tests as assigned by the physician (visual field, OCT, fundus photos, external photos, topography, lipiscan, TearLab, Inflammadry, FA's, color vision screening, stereo testing, VEP, ERG, HRT,......etc.) Administer ocular medications (eye drops/ointments) as requested by the physician Prepare examination rooms and maintain a clean workspace Assist the physician with office procedures (lesion excisions, YAG capsulotomy, YAG PI.... etc.) Willing to learn new skills as required by the needs of the practice within 6 months of their introduction Willing to travel to satellite offices as needed (reliable transportation is needed) Assist with other assigned tasks not listed by
Clinical Leadership and SEC Management Required Skills/Abilities:
Be a team player and maintain a professional and positive attitude Maintain a professional appearance as outlined in the employee handbook Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information as it relates to patients and staff members Study the CPSS Home Study Modules and pass the CPSS exam within 6 months of hire Complete COA Home Study Guide and questions within 18 months of hire Study for and take COA test within 2 years of hire Ability to multi-task Ability to handle stressful situations in a calm and professional manner Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in the English language in person, by phone and in writing
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent COA Certification preferred but not required Experience in an Eye Care setting or Medical Office is preferabl Bi-Lingual a plus.
