Job Description Overview:
The X-ray Tech will need to prepare patients for radiological procedures and take x-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety. The X-ray Tech will also be responsible for the development and process of these images and their preparation for radiologist to over-read as well as physicians to examine. The X-ray Tech will perform all radiology services and other basic patient care duties assigned by management when not actively providing radiological care. The X-ray Tech will perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices of physicians and other healthcare providers running smoothly. In addition to Radiological Duties, the X-ray Tech will: Greet patients upon entering Assist with patient intake and registration Prepare patients for examination and record vitals Perform routine specimen collection and tests Assist physicians with suture and splinting Prepare equipment and examination rooms and clean instruments Manage inventory and medical supplies Keep the office clean by taking out the trash daily and other duties assigned by management Keep waiting, bathrooms, and exam rooms neat and clean Answer phones and faxes Administering vaccines Assist with referral services Working Conditions X-ray Techs work in well-lighted, clean environments. They constantly interact with other people and may have to handle several responsibilities at once. Most full-time X-ray Techs work a regular 30-40 hour week. Some work part time, evenings, or weekends.
Training, Other Qualifications, and Advancement:
X-ray Tech must be a graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology. X-ray Tech must be licensed and accredited by ARRT and State, if applicable and required by law. Weekend and Holiday Rotations are required. This is a full-time position that requires work between the hours of 8AM and 8PM, 7 days a week. X-ray Techs deal with the public; therefore, they must be neat and well-groomed and have a courteous, pleasant manner. X-ray Techs must be able to put patients at ease and explain physicians' instructions. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Being familiar with OSHA and HIPAA regulations. X-ray Techs may be able to advance to office manager. They may also qualify for a variety of administrative support occupations or may teach the profession of radiologic technologist to student technicians. The willingness to teach other members of the community is looked upon favorably by management in Atracare. With additional education, some X-ray Techs enter other health occupations, such as nursing and physician assistant.
Language Skills:
An X-ray Tech should have the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. They should also have the ability to write simple correspondence. X-ray Techs will also be required to effectively present information to one-on-one and small group situations to clients and other employees of the organization. Proper telephone skills must be adhered to, which include answering the phone with three required components: (1) your name, (2) what office you work for, and (3) "How my I help you?"
