- Demonstrates competency in procedures appropriate to the ages of patients served and understands their treatment needs.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and respects patient modesty at all times.
- Follows institutional policies regarding patient care, fire safety, and infection control. Demonstrates awareness and application of radiation safety procedures for self and others.
- Regularly checks and stocks equipment, accessories, and supplies.
- Practices aseptic techniques and ensures equipment cleanliness and disinfection after each patient.
- Assists radiologists during stereotactic biopsies, practicing sterile techniques as necessary.
- Reviews requisitions, patient reports, and previous films to gather relevant information before examinations.
- Conducts regular QA/QC tests as per ACR guidelines and maintains required education units.
- Adheres to ACR/MQSA and departmental standards for positioning and image quality.
- Documents all procedures and pertinent patient clinical history accurately.
- Performs mammographic imaging procedures, including X-ray and DEXA, ensuring proper positioning and technical factors.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Able to make judgments that must be made on a regular basis regarding exam protocols and imaging techniques, based upon patient condition and provisional diagnosis [Required]
- Knowledge of accepted
ACR/MQSA
positioning and image quality of mammograms [Required]- Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English [Required]
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office [Required]
Education:
- Associate [Required]
Field of Study:
- Completion of accredited radiological technology program
