Job Description

This is a full-time role for a certified Radiology Technologist to provide safe, age-appropriate care to the patient by performing exams according to department procedures under the direction of the new Imaging department leadership at Wellstar North Fulton Medical Center . To be considered, you must have ALL of the following: Education High School Diploma or GED Graduated from an AMA-approved School of Radiologic Technology Certifications ARRT Radiography (R) BLS - American Heart Association (AHA) or BLS Instructor Experience Have 2 years experience as a Radiology Technologist Schedule & Incentives Friday, Saturday and Sunday 7:00am - 7:30pm | Weekend Option Position is eligible for a $20K Sign-On Bonus Benefits program that includes PTO, mental health support, wellness rooms, concierge services and more Access to Wellstar's CareerCare program for fully funded education and guided career progression Role Overview This is an imaging technologist position responsible for delivering safe, age-appropriate patient care while performing the full range of departmental exams according to established procedures. This role sets up the equipment, reviews images for quality and completeness, and ensures that patient questions, concerns, or contraindications are satisfactorily addressed. Flexibility, dependability, accountability, and strong collaboration are essential to meeting departmental needs and maintaining high clinical standards. Core Responsibilities Operate all imaging and radiographic equipment safely and competently, adjusting technique to maintain image quality while delivering the lowest reasonable dose. Clean, disinfect, and maintain equipment per infection control and department schedules; promptly report malfunctions so service can be coordinated. Obtain complete clinical history, assess for contraindications, and verify two unique patient identifiers and correct orders before any procedure. Perform exams and administer contrast according to established protocols, using venipuncture and sterile technique where applicable. Ensure proper patient identification, markers, shielding, and positioning; review images for diagnostic acceptability and release patients appropriately. Protect patient privacy and comfort, providing age-appropriate pre- and post-procedure care and clear explanations to reduce anxiety. Understand, demonstrate, and document pre-procedural verification and Time Out processes when indicated. Explain procedures using AIDET, address questions and concerns, and involve physicians when issues cannot be resolved prior to the exam. Consistently produce high-quality images, ensure equipment readiness and calibration, and complete all studies correctly in RIS/PACS, including CDs and prior exam retrieval when needed. Restock linens and supplies; keep imaging areas clean and orderly; transport and position patients safely, applying immobilization devices when indicated. Perform patient charging on the day of service, assist with clerical/support tasks, and maintain productivity comparable to peers. Communicate issues and potential problems to the supervisor promptly; uphold Joint Commission and other regulatory standards. Transfer/retrieve images in PACS and perform other duties as assigned. Communicate clearly with patients, families, and providers, using strong critical thinking to clarify orders and prioritize safely.
