As part of Beacon Health System,we'rededicated to improving health and inspiring hope throughout the region. What You'll Do As a CT Technologist, you will report to the Manager/Director of Radiology. Performs computerized tomography (CT) scans and X-Ray procedures that require independent judgment at a high degree of precision and skill. Follows physician's orders, protocols and procedures as directed by the radiologist and/or supervising technologist while adhering to department policies.
CT Technologist Job Responsibilities Imaging Technical Skills:
Perform CT and X-Ray exams per physician orders, protocols, and department policies Evaluate image quality, adjust technique, and perform post-processing as needed Apply advanced positioning skills, especially for trauma or immobile patients Collaborate with radiologists to ensure appropriate imaging protocols Select technical factors and properly use image markers Obtain accurate patient history and explain procedures clearly Demonstrate knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and recognize pathology Safely administer contrast media, including IV injections and patient assessment Operate and maintain imaging equipment, including power injector use and troubleshooting Follow infection control by cleaning and maintaining equipment and exam rooms Respond to emergencies, including CPR and supportive procedures
Image Management & Record Keeping:
Verify and document physician orders in patient records Accurately enter charges and update procedural information in RIS Ensure proper image storage and organization in PACS Resolve file issues (merging, QA, linking exams) and notify team when needed Request prior imaging and manage document uploads Send images for processing or external review as required Communicate effectively with physicians regarding patient care Manage scheduling, patient flow, and identify patients needing special protocols
Other Department Responsibilities:
Train and support new staff and assist in student education Participate in on-call rotation as required Adhere to radiation safety standards (ALARA) and badge monitoring Maintain adequate supply levels and remove expired items Use communication tools (e.g., email) appropriately Accurately track time, attendance, and scheduling Perform additional duties and projects as assigned to support department operations What You Bring As a CT Technologist, you must possess excellent imaging skills, including proper positioning, technique, film critique, and adherence to department protocols. They should be proficient in computer systems used within their modalities and familiar with the imaging equipment they operate. A strong understanding of a functioning radiology department is essential, along with comprehensive knowledge of radiation protection practices to ensure the safety of patients, themselves, and staff. The role also requires well-developed communication skills to effectively understand and follow both written and verbal instructions. Additionally, candidates must pass ARRT and obtain advanced certification in both modalities within one year of hire to maintain the position. Required Qualifications The knowledge, skills, and abilities as indicated are normally acquired through the successful completion of an associate degree or Professional Training. ARRT or ARRT eligible, Indiana State License, and CPR certification required. A minimum of one to two years of job-related experience is preferred.
