What You'll Do As an IR Tech, you will report to Director/Manager of Cardiovascular Service Line. Assists Interventional Radiologists in the diagnosis and treatment of cerebral, aortic, and peripheral vascular diseases utilizing radiographic and ultrasonic imaging. Also assists the physicians in diagnosing and treatment of non-vascular disease; including but not exclusive to biopsy, drainage, and injection procedures. As part of the patient care team, performs as scrub assistant or circulator, and takes protective measures to safeguard patients and team members against radiation exposure.
Interventional Radiology Technologist- IT Tech Job Responsibilities:
Perform Interventional Radiology procedures and diagnostic imaging studies in accordance with departmental protocols and radiologist preferences. Operate Interventional Radiology imaging equipment and evaluate image quality, annotations, and exam accuracy. Complete advanced image post-processing, including CTA reconstructions and 3D cerebral imaging rendering. Ensure all imaging studies are accurately entered into
RIS/PACS
systems and available for physician interpretation. Provide comprehensive patient care by anticipating procedural needs and adapting to patient-specific requirements. Establish and maintain sterile fields while assisting with procedures in scrub and circulating roles. Accurately document procedural data, charges, and exam information within departmental systems. Maintain knowledge of inventory management and supply ordering processes. Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to support efficient patient flow and departmental operations. Function independently while contributing as an active member of the Interventional Radiology team. Participate in rotating on-call coverage and demonstrate flexibility to meet departmental needs. Adhere to all radiation safety standards, licensing requirements, CPR certification, continuing education, and annual competency validations. Support staff development by orienting new employees and students and participating in departmental meetings and training. Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and perform additional duties and projects as assigned. What You Bring As an IR Tech, you should possess the ability to accurately position patients and apply aseptic techniques to ensure safe and effective procedures. You must demonstrate working knowledge of catheters, interventional devices, and contrast media, as well as the ability to operate standard radiographic and interventional imaging equipment. The role also requires proficiency with radiology information systems and computer applications used to support imaging workflows, documentation, and patient care. Required Qualifications The knowledge, skills, and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of an ARRT approved Radiography Program. Maintain the registry in the ARRT and an Indiana State Board of Health license. A minimum of 1 to 2 years of job-related experience is required. One to two years' experience as an Interventional Radiographer desired. V Vascular Interventional certification preferred.
