40 hours/week, 4 days/week, 10-hour shifts Position Summary The Special Procedures/Interventional Radiology (IR) Technologist is responsible for producing high-quality diagnostic and interventional images while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and exceptional care. The technologist must demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, image quality, patient positioning, radiation safety, imaging equipment operation, infection control, and quality assurance practices. This role requires effective communication with patients to explain procedures, reduce anxiety, and provide age-appropriate care. The technologist will utilize imaging systems, PACS, and EPIC to process, manage, and maintain examination records while adhering to departmental standards and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities Produce high-quality diagnostic and interventional images that meet or exceed departmental standards. Apply advanced knowledge of anatomy, physiology, imaging techniques, and image quality principles during all procedures. Communicate effectively with patients regarding procedures, expectations, and post-procedure care. Position patients accurately to ensure optimal image quality and procedural success. Practice radiation safety principles and utilize protective devices to minimize radiation exposure for patients, staff, and physicians. Operate and maintain imaging equipment according to established protocols. Utilize PACS and EPIC systems to process, document, archive, and retrieve imaging studies and related patient information. Adhere to infection prevention, quality control, and patient safety standards. Demonstrate age-specific competencies when caring for patients across the lifespan, including communication, teaching, safety, and developmental considerations. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA and organizational policies. Provide guidance and supervision to students participating in clinical training activities. Deliver exceptional customer service while collaborating effectively with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members. Participate in continuing education activities to maintain and enhance professional competency. Required Qualifications Experience Minimum one (1) year of Interventional Radiology (IR) experience. Certifications & Licensure Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification. Current ARRT (R) certification. Active Kentucky State Radiology Technologist License. Language Requirements English proficiency required (reading, writing, and speaking). Preferred Qualifications Certifications ARRT (VI) certification obtained within 18 months of hire. 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM, four days per week.
On-Call Requirement:
1-2 nights per week from 5:00 PM - 6:30 AM.
Weekend Call:
Every third weekend (Friday 5:00 PM through Monday 6:30 AM). Must be available to fulfill all call responsibilities as assigned. Work Environment The Special Procedures/IR Technologist works in a fast-paced hospital environment, supporting diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures while maintaining the highest standards of patient care, safety, and imaging excellence.
Pay:
$70.00 per hour Application Question(s): Minimum one (1) year of Interventional Radiology (IR) experience. Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification. Current ARRT (R) certification.
