Serves as a Radiologic Technologist on an assigned shift providing radiologic services for LSP inmate population as well as emergency treatment for work related injuries on LSP employees. Louisiana State Penitentiary (LSP) is the state's only Class 1A facility and the only correctional facility providing custody and control of adult male inmates who have been sentenced to death. The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here . Performs all x-ray treatment, including IVPs (Intravenous Pyelograms), and examinations under the supervision of a Radiologic Technologist Supervisor or the attending physician on the assigned shift. Assist with examinations, and on occasion prepares and delivers reports to ordering physician. Assures the quality of all x-rays, including the most complex, made on that shift. Performs daily equipment checks to ensure that all radiographic equipment is safe and ready to use. Differentiates between film, CR, and DR imaging formats and adjusts techniques accordingly. Reviews images to ensure the image quality and patient positioning are within established standards. Work with adult male inmates of all custody levels - minimum, medium, maximum (death row) and protective custody. Work for (support) Employees and inmates.

Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted. An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted. This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
