The MRI Technologist will independently provide support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the National Institute of Mental Health within the National Institutes of Health. The primary objective is to provide services and deliverables through performance of support services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform scans for NIH researcher projects Provide expert level information and assistance on the software and hardware capabilities of the MR Provide input to decide what modifications of the unit are necessary to produce optimum image spectra and most efficient use of the scanner Organize data into computerized data sets Perform functional MR and spectroscopic imaging studies of head Act as subject patient advocate monitoring comfort and subject cooperation with experimental protocol, physiological parameters pulse rate, respiration, O2 saturation and length of time of research exam Perform venipuncture on infants, children and adults as indicated on the Physician orders Administer oral and intravenous contrast material prior to magnetic resonance diagnostic evaluation Perform regular quality assurance procedures on the scanner, data acquisition and archiving of imaging data 3 Provide input to decide what modifications of the unit are necessary to produce optimum image spectra and most efficient use of the scanner 2 Function as an expert regarding the software and hardware capabilities of the MR scanner 1 Work products and documents related to acting as patient advocate, including monitoring comfort, cooperation, physical parameters, and length of time of exam; advise of results of examinations and provide preliminary diagnostic evaluations. Work products and documents related to performing venipuncture on patients; administer oral or intravenous contrast material prior to scans. Computer generated work including organizing data into computerized data sets.

Qualifications Basic Qualifications:

American Registry of Radiologic Technology Education in MRI Technology focused on Medical Technologies Technician Skilled in

Magnetic Resonance Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with non-technical and technical staff Detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects
