Mercy is seeking an Advanced Radiology Intern to support our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will assist technologists and radiologists with imaging procedures, patient preparation, and workflow coordination while ensuring safety, accuracy, and comfort. You'll gain hands-on experience across multiple modalities, help maintain equipment and documentation, and contribute to quality patient care. Responsibilities Assist radiologic technologists in preparing patients for imaging procedures, including verifying identification, explaining exams, and ensuring comfort and safety. Support accurate patient positioning and basic procedure setup according to established protocols and within the scope allowed for an intern. Follow radiation safety and infection control guidelines to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Help manage radiology workflow by transporting patients, stocking supplies, and preparing or turning over exam rooms between procedures. Use electronic health record and imaging systems, including PACS, to support accurate documentation and image handling under supervision. Collaborate with technologists, radiologists, nurses, and other team members to coordinate timely, patient-centered imaging care. Observe and, where permitted, participate in a variety of imaging procedures (e.g., general radiography, fluoroscopy, CT, MRI) to enhance clinical learning. Monitor patients during and after imaging procedures as directed, promptly reporting changes in condition or concerns to the supervising technologist or nurse. Participate in ongoing education, safety training, and competency development activities offered by Mercy.
