Mercy is seeking an Advanced IR Technologist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you'll perform complex interventional radiology procedures, ensuring high-quality imaging and patient safety. Responsibilities Perform advanced interventional radiology and special procedure imaging exams according to physician orders and established protocols. Set up, operate, and troubleshoot fluoroscopy, angiography, and specialized imaging equipment, ensuring optimal image quality and patient safety. Prepare procedure rooms, equipment, and sterile supplies, maintaining aseptic technique and strict infection control standards. Position and prepare patients for procedures, verify patient identity and procedure details, and assist with obtaining consents according to policy. Assist interventional radiologists and other physicians during procedures such as angiography, vascular interventions, line placements, biopsies, drainages, and other image-guided interventions within departmental scope. Administer and monitor contrast agents within scope of practice, observing for and responding to adverse reactions in collaboration with the care team. Apply radiation safety principles (ALARA), utilize protective equipment, and monitor radiation exposure for patients, self, and staff. Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures, supporting moderate sedation monitoring where permitted and escalating clinical concerns promptly. Document procedures, implants, contrast usage, and patient information accurately in PACS, RIS, and the electronic medical record. Participate in on-call, weekend, evening, and holiday coverage as required to support urgent and emergent interventional procedures. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other team members to optimize workflow, prioritize cases, and ensure timely, coordinated patient care. Support quality improvement activities, including data collection, adherence to protocols, and participation in audits and performance initiatives. Serve as a resource and mentor for junior technologists and students, assisting with training, competency development, and skills reinforcement. Maintain required certifications, licensure, and continuing education related to interventional radiology and special procedures. Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, state, and federal regulations, as well as Mercy policies, safety standards, and ethical practices.
