Job Description

Mercy is seeking a Senior MRI Technologist to deliver high-quality MRI imaging within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. This role performs advanced MRI exams, optimizes imaging protocols, ensures patient safety, and mentors technologists and students. The Senior MRI Technologist collaborates closely with radiologists and multidisciplinary teams to support accurate diagnoses and exceptional patient care. Responsibilities Perform and optimize complex MRI examinations following departmental protocols Ensure patient safety, comfort, and informed consent throughout MRI procedures Screen patients for contraindications and manage contrast administration per policy Collaborate with radiologists to refine protocols and support diagnostic accuracy Maintain and troubleshoot MRI equipment; coordinate service as needed Adhere to radiation safety, MRI safety, and infection control standards Accurately document exams in RIS/PACS and electronic health records Mentor and precept junior technologists and students Assist with workflow coordination and quality improvement initiatives Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the care team Required Skills MRI scanning and protocols Cross-sectional anatomy and pathology recognition Patient positioning and immobilization MRI safety and contraindication screening Contrast administration and IV access RIS/PACS and EHR documentation Quality assurance and image optimization Equipment troubleshooting and vendor interfaces Radiation and infection control standards Mentoring and training clinical staff
