This role requires a high level of technical proficiency, adherence to safety protocols, and a commitment to patient-centered care. The Mammography Technologist I works collaboratively with Radiologists and other healthcare professionals, ensuring accurate imaging and patient comfort while maintaining compliance with state, federal, and regulatory standards, including FDA/MQSA and ACR requirements. Essential Functions Performs mammography imaging procedures, ensuring high-quality screening and diagnostic images through proper positioning, technique, and compression. Adheres to safety protocols, radiation protection standards, and infection control guidelines to ensure patient and staff safety. Ensures equipment functionality and maintenance, performing routine quality control testing per ACR and
FDA/MQSA
requirements. Reviews physician orders and patient history, ensuring all mammography procedures are correctly ordered, verified, and acknowledged. Educates patients on breast health, self-exam techniques, and procedure expectations, addressing concerns with professionalism. Assists radiologists with specialized mammography procedures, including fine needle aspiration (FNA), needle localizations, and biopsies, while maintaining sterile technique. Prepares patients for invasive mammography-guided procedures, providing clear instructions and post-procedure care guidance. Maintains accurate documentation and image storage as required by state, federal, and accreditation regulations. Manages mammography inventory and supplies, ensuring cost-effective use and proper stock levels for daily operations. Performs other duties as assigned. Maintains regular and reliable attendance. Complies with all policies and standards. Qualifications 1-3 years of experience in radiologic imaging required 2-4 years experience as a mammographer in an acute care hospital setting preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Proficiency in mammographic positioning, imaging techniques, and radiation safety standards. Strong understanding of FDA/MQSA, ACR, and state regulatory compliance requirements for mammography. Ability to effectively communicate and provide patient education with empathy and professionalism. Knowledge of aseptic and surgical techniques for mammography-guided procedures. Attention to detail in documenting patient information, reports, and image storage requirements. Proficiency in PACS, electronic medical records (EMR), and mammography equipment operation. Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills in technical troubleshooting and patient care situations. Licenses and Certifications Licensed Radiologic Technologist as applicable by state required ARRT Radiography Certification required and (M) ARDMS or ARRT - Mammography certification or eligibility to obtain within six (6) months of hire required BCLS - Basic Life Support requiredSimilar remote jobs
