CT/Diagnostic Team Lead Watauga Medical Center • CT Boone, NC Newly Created Position Full-time, Days, Varies Req # 12914 Diagnostic X-Ray / CT Technologist Team Lead
Location:
Boone, North Carolina | Full-Time | Variable Shifts Why You'll Love Working Here As a Diagnostic X-Ray / CT Technologist Team Lead at UNC Health Appalachian, you will combine advanced imaging expertise with leadership responsibilities to support high-quality patient care and departmental operations. In this role, you'll guide team performance, ensure clinical excellence, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary care team in a mission-driven environment focused on patient safety and outcomes.
Compensation:
Starting at $36.64 /hour, based on experience, education, and internal equity.
Schedule:
Full-time, variable shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and on-call rotations

Comprehensive medical/dental/vision coverage, retirement with employer match, PTO, tuition reimbursement, paid parental leave, wellness incentives, and employee discounts What You'll Do as a CT/X-Ray Team Lead Perform high-quality diagnostic X-ray and CT imaging procedures in accordance with physician orders Provide leadership and day-to-day support to imaging team members to ensure efficient workflow and patient care Serve as a clinical resource for staff, assisting with complex imaging procedures and problem-solving Ensure adherence to radiation safety standards, regulatory requirements, and departmental protocols Communicate effectively with patients and families to provide education and ensure a positive experience Collaborate with physicians, radiologists, and interdisciplinary teams to support optimal patient outcomes Assist with staff training, onboarding, and competency development Monitor quality, safety, and performance metrics to support continuous improvement Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and emergency situations Demonstrate professionalism and alignment with UNC Health Appalachian's Mission, Vision, and Values Qualifications Graduate of an AMA-accredited radiologic sciences program Minimum of 2 years of CT technologist experience Demonstrated experience with increasing levels of responsibility or leadership preferred CT registry (R-CT) required within 2 years Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association required at hire Skills & Abilities Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to provide safe and effective patient care within scope of licensure Knowledge of imaging procedures, radiation safety, and clinical workflows Ability to foster teamwork and maintain a positive work environment Commitment to exceptional patient experience and service excellence Physical & Work Environment Continuous standing and walking for ≥ 8 hours per shift Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling ≥ 50 lbs Frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and reaching Continuous hand, finger, and wrist dexterity with close visual attention Frequent patient mobilization (> 4 hours per day) Exposure to ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, including x-ray equipment Regular exposure to bloodborne pathogens and hospital-related hazards Irregular hours including days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call responsibilities What Sets Us Apart
