Job Description

Job Summary:
Radiology practice is seeking a Part-time CT Tech, under indirect supervision performs all duties associated with acquisition, processing, submission for interpretation, and archiving of cat scan images. Responsible for the care of the patient while in the cat scan department. Saturday Hours of 8:00am - 4:00pm Performs CT scans on patients which includes the following: getting the patient undressed and ready for procedure, goes over consent form with patient, explains the procedure to them, gives patient water or any other agent needed for the test, fills the injector, starts IV on patient, scans patient and processes the films, and helps patient to get dressed after procedure is complete. Practice cost containment measures in all aspects. Takes IV out and gives patient posttest instructions. Checks the patient's images and lets the patient go. Faxes reports to referring doctor when necessary. Verifies or check out films/CDs on computer. This includes start, end, remove, modify, and add information on computer. Adds contrast & creatinine information in Med Informatics. Restock procedure rooms and order supplies if needed. Disinfect rooms according to OSHA guidelines. Update ACR accreditation. Follows OSHA Standards for Blood Bourne Pathogens. Answers questions on phone from patients, doctor's offices, radiologists, and scheduling department. Do patient lab work (creatinine) as needed. Transport all patients from Myelogram area to CT and then back when assistant is not present. Check and verify orders. Make sure all images are stored in PACS. Validates patients on PACS. Washes linen. Burns CDs. Scans appropriate paperwork into PACS.
Specifications:
Education :
Graduate of an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology.
Experience :
No post graduate experience required.
Certification/License/Registration :
Registered or Registry eligible through the ARRT. Sub-specialty registration in CT preferred. CPR certification required.

Special Training/Skills :
Must be able to remain calm in stressful situations. Must display courtesy and empathy toward patients, co-workers, and physicians. Must be able to make sound judgments and execute the appropriate actions based on the needs of patients and knowledge of departmental policies and procedures. Must have good communication skills and be discrete with confidential information.
Physical Demands :
Must be able to move about freely. Must be able to assist in the lifting of physically compromised patients. Must possess sufficient visual and auditory acuity to perform tasks remotely located to the patient.
Working Conditions :
Works in a medical facility. Subject to electrical, chemical, and radiant energy hazards. Exposure to infectious disease and lifting hazards. Sits, stands, and walks intermittently throughout the day. Must stoop and bend during job performance. Must lift patients and supplies.
