Job Description

The Mammographer conducts mammographic examinations to detect and diagnose breast abnormalities. Working closely with radiology leadership, radiologists, and the medical staff, this role is responsible for the operation of mammography equipment, positioning patients for optimal imaging, and ensuring image quality and accuracy. The Mammographer plays a critical role in early detection of breast cancer and other breast-related conditions, contributing to improved patient outcomes.
Essential Job Function:
Performs mammographic examinations by operating mammography equipment and following established protocols to ensure accurate and timely detection of breast abnormalities. Completes all exams and accurately documents findings in Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) systems, ensuring comprehensive and accessible patient records. Identifies and addresses all charges associated with studies, resolving any errors or issues related to the final product sent to PACS to ensure accurate charge identification and maintain financial integrity and compliance. Demonstrates a strong commitment to safe practices and supports a just culture, following protocols to accurately identify patients, prevent laterality errors, eliminate falls, and minimize radiation exposure using the ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) principle. Completes all annual competencies within designated timeframes, staying current with advancements in mammography techniques and ensuring ongoing competence in providing quality patient care. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Graduate of a Radiology, Imaging or related educational program.
