CT Scan Technologist Equiliem medical insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, 401(k) United States, Jersey, Hackensack Aug 05, 2026 Job Summary The Cat Scan Technologist performs computer tomography procedures and related techniques, producing sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation and assists with interventional and therapeutic procedures. Essential Generic Job Functions Performs complex CT procedures. Uses professional judgment when reviewing and obtaining patient's clinical history for procedures, ensuring information is documented and scanned into PACS. Prepares, screens and reviews the accuracy of the contrast questionnaire with patient and/or family member and scans into EPIC. Identifies and/or administers contrast media related to CT exams as prescribed by a licensed practitioner. Reviews the patient prescription to verify appropriateness of exam and communicates with the Radiologist and Referring Physician if needed. Responsible for calling physicians to clarify the prescription in accordance with the appropriate CT protocols. Verifies insurance authorized exam script and sends exam modification forms to Finance for insurance re-verification. Obtains outside studies (CD), schedules them in EPIC, and ensures availability in PACS for Radiologists. Provides exam copies to the patient and requesting physician and/or family member. Evaluates radiographs using PACS System to ensure proper identification and diagnostic value. Uses consistent techniques to gather relevant information for scanning and patient safety. Determines if the patient is appropriately prepared for the procedure. Preps patient for scanning, including shielding and immobilization devices. Determines appropriate type and dose of contrast to be administered. Provides accurate explanations and instructions at a level the patient can understand. Performs venipuncture, IV patency, and maintenance procedures according to guidelines. Monitors patient's physical condition for any adverse reactions during the procedure. Responsible for scheduled shifts including holidays and weekends, with overtime as needed. On call assignments as needed per Department of Radiology policy. Adheres to the policy of Employee ID, Standards of Behavior, Attendance, and Punctuality. Lifts a minimum of 25 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 50 lbs., and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day. Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care specific to those needs. Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies and Standards of Behavior. Required Skills & Experience Knowledge of anatomy and physiology and radiological positioning of the human body. Understanding mechanical attributes of CT software and hardware. Thorough knowledge of PACS system. Maintains CEU Credits. ARRT (CT) certification within twelve months of hire date. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within three months of hire date. Preferred Skills & Experience Six months CT experience preferred. Knowledge of Epic and any HIS/RIS system added by the hospital.
Work Schedule:
Tuesday - Saturday 11pm-7am (Sunday & Monday OFF) Required Education Graduate of a Radiologic Technologist program. High School diploma or equivalent. Required Certifications & Licensure NJ DEP Diagnostic Radiography License. ARRT Certified R.T.(R) license required. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
