Mammography Technologist•RWJBarnabas Health At RWJBarnabas Health, the Mammography Technologist performs a variety of mammography procedures and exams that require independent judgment, technical skill and knowledge of the process of diagnosis of breast disease. A typical day for a Mammography Technologist may include: Correctly positioning patients for routine and diagnostic radiographic imaging of the breast Selecting correct exposure factors to produce optimum images in accordance with prescribed radiation safety standards Assessing breast images for quality assurance based on the guidelines of the American College of Radiology Assisting the radiologist in the performance of interventional breast procedures Maintaining infection control standards and policies Maintaining equipment by performing daily quality control tests This role might be for you if: You are compassionate and excel at helping patients feel comfortable during sensitive procedures Thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and image quality Communicate effectively with patients, radiologist, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure a seamless care experience Take pride in following safety protocols, maintaining equipment, and adhering to facility standards Are dependable, adaptable, and eager to contribute to a collaborative, supportive, imaging team. To be considered for this Mammography Technologist opportunity, you must: High School Diploma or GED. Completion of an AMA accredited School of Radiology Program; completion of the required initial 40 hours of training specific to breast imaging; continuing education as required by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and the FDA/Mammography Quality Standards Act. ARRT certified in Radiology and Mammography, NJ State x-ray license Must be able to communicate effectively by speaking clearly and distinctly in English.
