A Radiologic Technician or Technologist operates X Ray, MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) or CT (Computed Tomography) scan equipment to take diagnostic images of a patient. Works with doctors to obtain specific images necessary for medical diagnosis.
$48.91-$73.36/hour Key Responsibilities Prepare, educate, and properly position patients for mammography and other assigned examinations. Perform mammography procedures according to established protocols and safety standards. Produce high-quality diagnostic images and review completed examinations for quality and completeness. Assist physicians and radiologists with procedures as needed. Maintain and perform required equipment quality assurance and calibration activities. Follow radiation safety practices and applicable regulatory requirements. Maintain clean and organized work areas, equipment, and accessories. Report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor or Biomedical Engineering department. Process images and provide CDs or other imaging records when required. Access and document patient information, previous reports, and imaging studies using hospital systems, RIS, PACS, and other computer applications. Communicate with radiologists and attending physicians regarding imaging results or required reports when appropriate. Coordinate with patient transport when necessary. Maintain accurate documentation and follow departmental policies and procedures. Provide professional, courteous, and compassionate care to patients and families. Adapt patient care and communication based on the needs of pediatric, adult, geriatric, and other patient populations. Participate in staff meetings, in-services, continuing education, and training activities. May serve as an instructor or preceptor when assigned. Be available to assist with emergency procedures, overtime, holidays, on-call coverage, or alternate shifts as departmental needs require. Perform other duties as assigned by department leadership. Qualifications Current New York State Radiologic Technology License required. ARRT Mammography (ARRT-M) certification required upon hire. High school diploma required. Completion of an accredited radiography program, allied health education program, or hospital-based radiography program required. Associate degree preferred. 1-3 years of relevant experience preferred. Strong knowledge of mammography procedures, patient positioning, radiation safety, and image quality standards. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. Ability to respond appropriately to rapidly changing patient and departmental needs. Strong attention to detail and ability to concentrate for extended periods. Strong computer and equipment operation skills. Required Certifications & Licensure ARRT-M -

American Heart Association:
Required within 90 days of hire. Advanced mammography examination/certification required upon hire or within 1 year of employment , as applicable. New hires must complete the required mammography training, including 40 hours of mammography education covering anatomy and physiology, QA/QC, and 25 mammography examinations under direct supervision of an MQSA-qualified individual during orientation. Continuing education requirements must be maintained in accordance with applicable regulatory and professional standards, including mammography-specific education. Radiation dose pledge requirements for Image Gently and Image Wisely through the American College of Radiology (ACR) must be completed during orientation and within the required probationary period.
