Casual Diagnostic Technologist
  • UPMC Williamsport Flexible Schedule | Supplemental Role | Patient-Focused Care UPMC Williamsport is seeking a skilled and compassionate Casual Diagnostic Technologist to join our imaging team.
This is a great opportunity for technologists looking for flexibility while still making a meaningful impact in patient care. Schedule & Commitment Casual requirement: Minimum of 32 hours per month
Shifts:
Scheduled based on department needs Weekend rotation: As scheduled
Holidays:
Minimum of 2 holidays per year About the Role In this role, you will perform a variety of diagnostic imaging procedures while working independently in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You'll utilize your technical expertise and clinical judgment to deliver high-quality imaging while ensuring a positive patient experience. Key Responsibilities Verify patient identity using two identifiers and follow universal protocol standards Review physician orders and patient history to ensure accurate and appropriate imaging Perform diagnostic radiography procedures independently using established protocols Safely operate imaging equipment to capture, analyze, and document high-quality images Administer oral (PO) and rectal contrast in accordance with physician orders and department policy Ensure all exams are properly documented, coded, and tracked in RIS and archived in ISITE Accurately enter charges for procedures performed Communicate clearly with patients, explaining procedures to ensure comfort and cooperation Collaborate with team members and other departments to support efficient patient care Use independent judgment to adjust imaging techniques for optimal diagnostic outcomes What You Bring Strong technical proficiency in diagnostic imaging Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Excellent communication and patient care skills A team-oriented mindset with a commitment to quality and safety Compassionate approach with a focus on patient dignity and respect Why Join UPMC Williamsport? Education:
Graduate of an ARRT-approved School of Radiologic Technology , or Verification of program completion with a scheduled graduation date Candidates hired prior to graduation will work under indirect supervision of an ARRT-certified Diagnostic Technologist until degree verification is received Technologists may not work in an outpatient setting until ARRT certification is obtained
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
ARRT Registry Eligible (Radiologic Technologist) Must obtain ARRT Radiography certification within 6 months of hire (effective January 1, 2025) Technologists hired prior to January 1, 2025 must obtain certification within 12 months of hire/transfer Temporary Permit (if applicable): May practice under a temporary permit with direct supervision of a licensed Radiologic Technologist Must obtain ARRT certification within 180 days of permit issuance Temporary permits expire: 180 days from issuance, Upon notice of license denial, or 10 days after notification of exam failure (whichever occurs first) Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR Certification Must be completed within 30 days of hire Certification must meet American Heart Association (AHA) standards (including skills demonstration) Pennsylvania Clearances (with renewal): Act 31
