Perform complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of CT scanners in accordance with Radiologist protocols. Position patients for all exams scans using immobilization and protective equipment as necessary Observes ALARA principles, As Low as Reasonably Achievable. This is a radiation safety principle for minimizing radiation doses and releases of radioactive materials by employing all reasonable methods. Explain diagnostic procedures to patients, providing patient education Prepares the room, the table and the equipment for patient use Applying all safety measures to all visitors, staff, and patients. Select software options and imaging parameters when adjusting the CT. Assist radiologist with imaging procedures, starting IV's, and injecting contrast, if applicable. Evaluate all imaging scans for technical quality, collate processed images, window/level adjustment as indicated, and appropriately labeled. Film/transmit to PACS. Schedule patients for procedures; assist with clerical functions, including billing of completed exams Load and operate power injectors for contrast media administration. Maintain accurate patient records. Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods. Provide care for the psychological and physical needs of patients for imaging. Perform other related duties incidental to the work therein. Other duties deemed necessary by management as assigned
Educational/ Experience Requirements:
Completion of a 24 month AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology, ARRT preferred. Advanced certification (Registry) with the ARRT in CT within 6 months of employment OR successful completion of an accredited CT program.
Other Requirements:
SCQRSA certification (State License) BLS required Continuing education hours are required every two years for license renewal The CT Technologist operates CT machines for imaging which physicians use as an aid to diagnosis. The technologist is able to perform a variety of exams and are very flexible to the needs of the department , ensuring better coverage to departments with their expanded knowledge of Imaging and their expertise.
