Performs various types of diagnostic X-ray procedures, adjusts x-ray equipment settings, determines proper voltage and exposure and positions patient. Performs specific procedures utilizing ionizing radiation. Assists physicians in assigned examinations utilizing contrast media and/or specific tomographic examinations.Reporting Structure:

Education An Associate's degree in Radiology Technology required. Work Experience 2- 3 years' work experience as a Certified Radiology Technologist preferred License/Certification Current certification as Radiology Technology License required. Position x-ray equipment and adjust controls to set exposure factors, such as time and distance. Uses beam-restrictive devices and patient-shielding techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patient and staff. Positions patient on examining table and set up and adjust equipment to obtain optimum view of specific body area as requested by physician. Processes exposed radiographs using computer generated methods. Explains procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain cooperation. Determine patients' x-ray needs by reading requests or instructions from physicians. Prepare and set up x-ray room for patient. Make exposures necessary for the requested procedures, rejecting and repeating work that does not meet established standards. Operate digital picture archiving communications systems. Transport patients to or from exam rooms. provide assistance to physicians or other technologists in the performance of more complex procedures. Operate mobile x-ray equipment in operating room, emergency room, or at patient's bedside. Perform procedures, such as linear tomography, mammography, sonograms, joint and cyst aspirations, routine contrast studies, routine fluoroscopy, or examinations of the head, trunk, or extremities under supervision of physician. Coordinate work of other technicians or technologists when procedures require more than one person. Collect and maintain records of patients examined, examinations performed, patient medical histories, views taken, or technical factors used. Assure that sterile or non-sterile supplies such as contrast materials, catheters, films, chemicals, or other required equipment, are present and in working order or requisition materials. Complete quality control activities, monitor equipment operation, and report malfunctioning equipment to supervisor. Maintain a current file of examination protocols. Provide students or other technicians with suggestions of additional views, alternate positioning, or improved techniques to ensure the images produced are of the highest quality. Perform general administrative tasks, such as answering phones, scheduling patient appointments, or pulling and filing films. Assist with on-the-job training of new employees or students or provide input to supervisors regarding training performance. Prepare contrast material, radiopharmaceuticals, or anesthetic or antispasmodic drugs under the direction of a radiologist. Provide assistance in radiopharmaceutical administration, monitoring patients' vital signs and notifying the radiologist of any relevant changes. Paperwork- Scans documents into PACS for radiologist to view, use of PACS and Cerner to verify and acknowledge patients, burn CDs as appropriate Sets up for invasive procedures Reviews prior studies Consults with Radiologist Checks lab work Clarifies ordersOTHER DUTIES

Prolonged periods of standing and walking Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 40 pounds during a scheduled work shift. Must be able to see with corrective eye wear Must be able to hear clearly with assistance May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases Able to handle emergency and/or crisis situations May be required to wear protective equipment as necessary Transferring, repositioning patients. Reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching for patient care functions. Ability to perform effectively in a stressful and fast-paced environment.
