Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY
Performs Mammography procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision on technical details; Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed policies for Mammography diagnosis; Assumes responsibilities for designated areas or procedures as required; Performs quality control procedures as required by the Federal and State requirements; Evaluates all orders, verifies ensures correct exam is performed; Responsible for interacting with hospital staff and/or nursing departments regarding patient care, concerns, and conflicts by identifying and assisting in the resolutions; Responsible and accountable for maintaining performance skills; Works weekends, holidays, evening, overtime, and/or on an on-call/call-back status, when needed. (This position summary contains the most relevant duties and responsibilities and does not exclude other assignments not mentioned.) QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS
1. 2 years prior Mammography and/or Radiographer experience preferred. 2. MQSA Certified Mammographer thru the ARRT preferred or 3. MQSA qualified technologist eligible to take ARRT advanced level exam in mammography with documentation of 40 hr. training course and clinical experience. 4. The MQSA qualified technologist will be required to pass the ARRT advanced level exam within 2 years of hire. 5. Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS's Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.EDUCATION / LICENSURE
1. Graduate from an approved school in Radiologic Technology. 2. Licensed as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) in the State of Texas) 3. Current ARRT Certification in Radiology and Mammography or MQSA qualified technologist eligible to take ARRT in Mammography 4. Must have current BCLS certification and remain current thereafter. Certification must be in accordance with the curriculum of the AHA, for Healthcare Provider's Program.EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE 1. DIAGNOSTIC
- Minimum experience of performing extremities, thorax, abdomen, spine, skull exams. Some of these exams may be performed as portables.
- Familiarized with utilizing a C-Arm 2. Mammography
- Able to be trained in Mammography.
- Able to operate a mammography unit.
- Able to perform screening and diagnostic mammograms.
- Familiarized with breast biopsies.
- Able to utilize critical thinking to ensure the proper procedure is being performed.
