POSITION SUMMARY

Under the general direction of physician/Lead R.T., operates C-Arm fluoroscope to obtain quality x-ray examinations of various body parts as ordered by the physician. Ensures quality patient care before, during and after procedures.

REPORT RELATIONSHIP

Technologist reports directly to facility Administrator and/or designee.

REQUIREMENTS

Texas Medical Board or Texas Board of Chiropractic (M.D., D.C.) and/or AART Certification and Registration BLS (CPR) Must have current licensure/certification upon hire. One year's experience utilizing C-arm/fluoroscopy in surgical procedures.

GENERAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Adheres to company time, attendance and tardiness guidelines, and dress code policy with name badge. Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition ensuring it is properly supplied for procedures. Follows all equipment and safety guidelines; is responsible for knowledgeable use and care of equipment to ensure proper working order and notify appropriate personnel as indicated. Completes job-related required courses/modules in a timely manner. Uses Standard Universal Precautions, appropriate hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, and safe practices to ensure personal safety and a safe environment. Interacts appropriately and effectively with all patients/physician/staff regardless of age or ethnicity. Maintains all facility compliances/policies related to activities, personnel and patients. Assists and participates with environmental hazard and infection control surveillance and emergency preparedness drills. Ensures all OR/procedure room personnel are donning appropriate radiation protective devices and dosimetry badges worn at collar level. Knowledge/respect of sterile field/technique. Maintains appropriate documentation in radiation log book and/or EMR system. Ensures that images and records are properly completed with patient identification data and appropriate labeling. Ensures that images are properly archived/printed. Principles of ALARA to be observed. Assists with reads of personal dosimetry badges on a quarterly basis as indicated for maintaining cumulative dose record. Responsible for issuing, tracking, reporting, and distributing dosimeter badges/information as directed by Lead R.T. Proper use of PACS and CR equipment; common clerical tasks. Demonstrates leadership ability and organizational skills in maintaining a professional relationship with patients, physicians, staff, and other personnel. Performs other job duties as assigned.

OSHA TASK CATEGORY TWO

There is an occasional risk of exposure to mucous membranes or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissue, or a potential for spills or splashes during the performance of the job. Universal precautions must be observed, and protective devices worn by the employee when performing a task that is likely to cause exposure.

Physical Requirements:

Able to lift 30+ pounds. Must be able to push or pull heavy equipment (i.e., C-arm). Must be able to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time. Able to assist transfer/transport of patients onto or off stretcher onto OR procedure table. May be required to wear radiation shielding for extended periods. Must be able to use power grip with either hand.
