JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a qualified and detail-oriented MRI Safety Officer (MRSO) to oversee and maintain MRI safety practices within our outpatient imaging facility in Culpeper VA. The MRSO will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring MRI safety policies and procedures in accordance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. This role works closely with radiologists, MRI technologists, and facility leadership to promote a culture of safety while ensuring exceptional patient care. Key Responsibilities Serve as the facility's designated MRI Safety Officer. Develop, implement, and maintain MRI safety policies, procedures, and training programs. Conduct MRI screening audits and ensure compliance with established safety protocols. Review and evaluate MRI-related incidents, near misses, and safety concerns; recommend corrective actions. Provide MRI safety education and ongoing competency training for clinical and non-clinical staff. Assist in the evaluation and approval of MRI-compatible equipment, implants, and devices. Collaborate with MRI technologists, radiologists, and referring providers regarding patient safety concerns. Participate in accreditation, regulatory inspections, and quality improvement initiatives. Maintain documentation related to MRI safety, staff training, and compliance activities. Stay current with evolving MRI safety standards, best practices, and professional guidelines. EXPERIENCE
: Up to 3 years' experience as a MRI Technologist
EDUCATION
: Must have a minimum associate's degree in Radiology or be a graduate of an accredited two-year radiology program.
Required:
Current certification as an MRI Safety Officer (MRSO) from a recognized credentialing organization. Certification as an MRI Technologist (ARRT(MR)) or equivalent. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field, Radiologic Technology. Minimum of 3 years of MRI experience in a clinical imaging environment. Strong knowledge of MRI physics, MRI safety principles, and regulatory requirements.
SKILLS/ABILITIES
: Knowledge of routine to complex MRI procedures and protocols. Skill in operation of MRI equipment as well as applicable ancillary equipment. Ability to work independently and multitask. Ability to provide documentation accurately and concisely. Demonstrates understanding of human cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, pathology, radiopharmacology, and medical terminology. Knowledge of computer applications, including information and billing systems, keyboard input, digital archiving, and retrieving of data.
