Multiple Positions Essential Functions:
Perform imaging exams in Radiology, CT and/or Mammography, in accordance with approved departmental and hospital policies and procedures while meeting the standards of performance as required by the Radiologists. Understand and use CT as outlined in policy and procedures for emergency work. Responsible for MQSA program, including, but not limited to: Performance and documentation of quality control tests. Maintain quality assurance records. Knowledge and execution of MQSA and ACR requirements. Equipment performance and service. Personnel qualification records. Medical records (reports and films); medical audit and outcome analysis records. Training new mammographers. Daily collection of results, sending of layman letters and handling patient follow up. Assist medical physicist with annual survey; complete FDA inspections. Submission of ACR accreditation. Writing and updating mammography policies and procedures. Utilize proper procedures to insure patient safety while in department. Demonstrate proper radiation safety procedures for patient and self. Demonstrate competency in exposure factors, telephone protocol, patient transport, assisting patients with dress/undress, ordering stock line/supplies, retrieving records/file folders and room clean up. Demonstrate proper procedure in use of equipment throughout the hospital. Prepare contrast media. Vital signs. Page on call personnel. Warm up CT. Determine correct mode of transportation for patients and be cognizant of patient comfort and privacy. When indicated, proper consent form properly signed by patient on file and patient fully informed, give patients preparation instructions, and explain any procedure to patient to facilitate cooperation and reduce anxiety. Complete paperwork for each exam correctly and error free. Assume responsibility for special programs and paperwork. Check out films, answer phones, relay messages, call reports when requested, keep filing up to date. Understand the function of the radiology office and perform all procedures correctly. Responsible for knowing and adhering to departmental rules and regulations while performing in a professional manner. Knowledgeable of the various needs of patients due to their age and determine appropriate care. Responsible for completion of all procedures scheduled in a timely manner without compromising quality. Keep up to date on performing emergency CT examinations.
License/Certification:
Registration with ARRT "R" plus "M" or documentation or CT proficiency required. Registered or registry eligible for mammography. Licensed RT with the State of Washington. Maintains current American Heart Association BLS certification.
Experience/Training:
Previous experience in a hospital is desirable. Must have good understanding of the equipment and all procedures performed routinely in a hospital imaging department. Continuing education is necessary. Able to perform x-ray, CT, and/or mammography procedures. Experience with Quality Control, MQSA Requirements, FDA Inspection and ACR Accreditation desirable. Knowledge and experience with implant patients, also desirable. Must have good understanding of quality control tests. Must have documentation of a minimum of 200 mammograms completed within a 24-month period if mammography is second modality for Tech II qualification.
Education:
High School diploma or GED required. Successful completion of an accredited radiologic technologist training program.
