JOB DESCRIPTION
The Multi-Procedure Technologist performs a variety of technical procedures to apply prescribed radiation for diagnostic purposes, is registered and/or certified in a minimum of two diagnostic imaging modalities (a combination of ARRT registry with bone density, MRI, CT, special procedures and/or mammography and is responsible for performing in at least two areas as assigned. This position requires the technologist to explain procedures to the patient, position and immobilize the patient on exam table and observe during the scan. Works at a technical level in a capacity that requires independent judgment, ingenuity, initiative and the ability to work independently without direct supervision. In those modalities where radiation is applied, the technologist uses radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations and to ensure safety of patients and staff. Has knowledge and understanding of age related care needs for pediatric, adult and geriatric patients. Requires the ability to interact professionally and communicate effectively with patients, family members, physicians and OMC staff.EDUCATION
Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic Technology training; registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent. Mammography Specific. Has met criteria for certification requirements in mammography.EXPERIENCE
Two years experience in radiology preferred. One year experience in secondary specialty preferred. Thorough knowledge of specialty theory and application to include concepts, procedures, safety precautions and effects. Demonstrated skill and ability to perform high quality procedures in the relevant imaging modality/modalities. Experience or knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy preferred for CT and MRI specialties. Mammography Specific Two years experience in mammography imaging and diagnostic procedures preferred. Experience in radiology imaging preferred. Experience with electronic patient information systems and/or mammography tracking systems preferred.LICENSURE/CREDENTIALS
Current ARRT registry required with at least one additional specialty of bone density, CT, special procedures, or mammography. Washington State License- Radiologic Technologist required.
