Job Description
Position Summary :
Coordinates and performs various imaging procedures and is responsible for patient safety protocols—functions as the first-line interface with customers in successfully accomplishing their imaging needs.Position Responsibilities:
Provides care appropriate to the condition and age of the patient, including pediatric, geriatric, and general population. Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and the use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns, and extraneous radiation to patients. Responsible for the safe handling of equipment and films. Instructs and prepares patients for radiographic and/or fluoroscopic examinations. Select appropriate equipment to use for the procedure. Determines the most suitable anatomical posture and positions and shields patients accordingly. Perform radiographic examinations requiring special equipment and procedures such as intravenous pyelograms, hysterosalpingograms, tomograms, cholangiography, arthrograms, and surgical exams. Programs portable or stationary x-ray machines and takes radiographs for a variety of examinations. Processes x-ray film. Practices medical and surgical aseptic procedures. Assists in maintaining basic records, reports, and files. Takes x-ray calls on a scheduled basis after the closing of the regular department hours. Understand exam scheduling and prep protocols for all department modalities, including diagnostic X-rays, CT, US, and mammography. Attends and participates in staff meetings, in-services, projects, or committees as assigned or requested. Assists in the training of new staff Follow up with appropriate staff, residents, or other individuals regarding reported incidents, complaints, problems, and concerns Assists with quality assurance programs when indicated Performs other duties as assigned Organization's expectations ofEmployees:

While performing duties of the job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms; must have speech, vision, smell, touch, and hearing corrected to normal range. Employee must frequently lift/push/pull up to 25 pounds and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.Mental requirements:
Must be able to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form; must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure; must be able to read, write, and speak clearly. Works inside in close working quarters with co-workers. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.Exposures:
Muscular strain, body fluids, residents' behavior, infectious material, chemicals/cleaning solutions, potential allergens such as plants/flowers, and noxious odors. Graduation from an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology, either college-affiliated or hospital-trained. Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or registry eligible. Certified by the State of Washington to practice and administer radiation. Current BCLS certification Knowledge and understanding of general anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology; Possesses a high level of knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.Essential Skills and Experience:
Demonstrated ability to relate to patients, residents, staff, and the public in a courteous and diplomatic manner under all circumstances. Computer skills including Windows, Microsoft Excel, and Word, and skills and experience working with hospital information management systems Ability to be flexible, organized, and possess excellent communication and customer service skills Communicates clearly and empathetically with patients, staff, managers, and physicians both verbally and in writing. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex instructions and maintain accurate records. Ability to make decisions, take appropriate action, and follow tasks through to completion. Demonstrated ability to remain calm in stressful situations and in emergencies.
