PRN- Cheyenne 4.0 4.0 out of 5 stars 4017 Rawlins Street, Cheyenne, WY 82001 PRN Memorial Hospital of Converse County 21 reviews PRN This position is responsible for following established procedures and protocols in a busy orthopedic spine clinic setting. The X-Ray Technologist / Medical Assistant performs diagnostic radiographic procedures to assist in the diagnosis of spine and musculoskeletal conditions and provides clinical support to providers, including rooming patients, assisting with exams, and basic administrative tasks. The scope of the position includes explaining procedures to patients, accurately operating all imaging equipment, demonstrating clinical and age-specific competencies, and selecting accurate technical factors for optimal image quality while maintaining radiation safety. The position also supports clinic flow through medical assistant duties such as obtaining vital signs, documenting in the electronic health record (EHR), and assisting with minor procedures as allowed by scope of practice. ARRT Certification or appropriate limited-scope X-ray credential as required.?? Wyoming State Radiologic Technologist License.? BLS Certification required or obtained within 90 days of hire Radiology Responsibilities Reviews and interprets provider orders for diagnostic X-ray procedures accurately and clarifies questions prior to imaging. Validates all patient identification before performing any diagnostic X-ray procedure. Communicates with the patient to obtain orthopedic- and spine-related medical history pertinent to the exam and the patient's well-being during the procedure. Validates proper working conditions and technical factors of all imaging equipment and the procedure room at the start of each shift. Explains imaging procedures to patients to facilitate cooperation and alleviate anxiety; ensures patient comfort and safety throughout the exam. Assumes responsibility for patient care during imaging procedures, including infection control and safe patient handling. Follows established protocols, policies, and procedures in performing diagnostic X-ray procedures specific to spine and extremity imaging. Demonstrates competence in collimation, patient positioning, and radiation safety to reduce exposure as much as reasonably achievable. Practices radiation safety for patients, family, visitors, and self, including proper shielding and dosimetry use. Critiques all images for diagnostic quality and completeness prior to release for provider interpretation. Ensures timely transfer of images to PACS or designated viewing system and resolves basic image transmission issues. Medical Assistant / Clinical Support Responsibilities Rooms patients, obtains and documents vital signs, pain scores, medication lists, allergies, and brief histories in the EHR. Prepares exam rooms and assists providers with orthopedic and spine examinations and minor procedures (e.g., brace/splint application support, wound care) within scope and policy. Provides basic patient education on imaging procedures, clinic flow, brace/splint care, and follow-up instructions as directed by the provider. Performs approved clinical tasks such as dressing changes, suture/staple removal, and medication administration if permitted by certification and state scope of practice. Assists with coordination of referrals, imaging orders, therapy orders, and prior authorizations as directed by the provider or clinic manager.
Administrative / Team
Responsibilities Keeps exam and X-ray rooms clean, organized, and stocked with appropriate orthopedic and imaging supplies. Accurately documents all procedures and patient interactions in the EHR in a timely manner. Actively participates in the quality assurance and performance improvement programs of the clinic. Demonstrates the ability to recognize priorities in a high-volume clinic and responds promptly and appropriately. Establishes and maintains good rapport and cooperative working relationships with providers, staff, and other departments. Demonstrates a willingness to learn new procedures, workflows, and technology and assists in other clinic areas as needed. Behaves and dresses in a professional and courteous manner consistent with the facility's Standards of Behavior.
