Job Description
Responsible for knowing all residents in assigned units and their activity needs to be both group and individual. Each Activity Coordinator will round their assigned unit every morning to develop and maintain knowledge of new admission and re-admission. After AM rounds, Activity Coordinator will check their dayroom to ensure neatness and check supplies before beginning morning activity. All activities will be announced 15 minutes prior to activities. Activities Coordinator will assist resident to all scheduled in dayroom. Duration of each activity will be 30 minutes. After each activity, work area will be cleaned, supplies stored and residents prepared for next Friday. Activity Coordinator will assist in developing and implementing new and exciting large group activities for residents. Each Coordinator will be assigned a large group activity according to the schedule. Each large group activity will be planned out by the Activity Coordinator who is leading the activity. You may help other Activity Coordinators assist their residents on other units to the activities after assisting your resident off of your unit. Supplies will be kept in an orderly fashion. Popcorn machine will be cleaned after every use. Activity will rotate weekend work as assigned by the RSV Director. Summary As an Activity Coordinator, you will be instrumental in enhancing the quality of life for residents in long-term care settings through engaging activities and programs. Reporting to the Director of Activities, your role will leverage core skills in communication and home & community care, while utilizing premium skills in event planning, recreational therapy, and specialized care for seniors, including those with Alzheimer's and dementia. Your relevant skills in assisting with daily living activities and social work will ensure a supportive environment for all residents. Qualifications Strong communication skills and experience in long-term care and home & community care Proficient in event planning and recreational therapy Background in assisted living, nursing home experience, and senior care Knowledge of Alzheimer's and dementia care, as well as working with individuals with disabilities Ability to assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) and manage schedules effectively Experience in counseling on aging issues and social work
