Company Overview Colonel Glenn Health & Rehab is a modern, 120-bed skilled nursing facility dedicated to providing comprehensive care for residents of all skill levels. Our facility offers a range of services, including long-term care, short-term rehabilitation, and respite care, all within a luxurious and welcoming environment. We are committed to fostering a vibrant community through engaging activity programs and ongoing staff development. Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Activities Director to lead our recreational and social programming for residents. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in senior care, assisted living, or nursing home environments, with expertise in planning engaging activities that enhance residents' quality of life. This role requires excellent communication skills, creativity, and the ability to work collaboratively with staff and residents to create meaningful experiences. Responsibilities Develop and implement diverse activity programs tailored to residents' interests, abilities, and cognitive levels, including trips within the community. Coordinate recreational therapy sessions that promote physical, emotional, and social well-being for residents with dementia or memory impairments. Manage scheduling of activities efficiently to ensure consistent engagement while accommodating individual needs and preferences. Collaborate with caregiving staff to assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and support their participation in activities. Foster an inclusive environment by working with individuals with disabilities or special needs, ensuring accessibility and enjoyment for all participants. Maintain detailed records of resident participation and progress in activities, adjusting plans as necessary to meet evolving needs. Stay informed about aging issues counseling and dementia care best practices to enhance program effectiveness. Skills Proven experience in event planning within senior living or healthcare settings, particularly in assisted living or nursing homes. Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, memory care, dementia care, and long-term care practices. Strong background in recreational therapy or therapeutic activities designed for seniors or individuals with disabilities. Excellent communication skills to engage residents effectively and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. Ability to manage schedules efficiently while balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with caregiving techniques and assisting residents with ADLs during activities. Experience in home & community care environments is advantageous; familiarity with aging issues counseling is preferred.
