Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Activities Director to lead engaging and meaningful recreational programs within our senior living community. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for enhancing the quality of life for older adults, with extensive experience in event planning, recreational therapy, and senior care. As Activities Director, you will develop, coordinate, and oversee a variety of activities tailored to residents' interests and needs, fostering an inclusive and vibrant community environment. Your leadership will ensure that residents experience enriching social, physical, and cognitive activities that promote well-being and independence. Responsibilities Design and implement diverse activity programs that cater to residents' interests, abilities, and health conditions, including memory care and dementia-specific activities. Coordinate special events, outings, and therapeutic activities that stimulate social interaction and engagement among residents. Collaborate with staff members across departments to integrate recreational therapy into overall care plans for residents with Alzheimer's disease or other disabilities. Manage scheduling of activities to ensure consistent participation while accommodating individual preferences and schedules. Lead efforts to assess residents' activity needs through regular feedback and adapt programs accordingly to maximize participation and satisfaction. Supervise volunteers and activity staff, providing training on dementia care, geriatrics, and effective caregiving techniques related to social engagement. Maintain detailed records of participation, resident progress, and program outcomes to support quality improvement initiatives. Foster a positive environment that encourages socialization, mental stimulation, and physical activity among all residents. Qualifications Proven experience in event planning, recreational therapy, or senior activity programming within assisted living or nursing home settings. Strong background in assisted living or long-term care environments with familiarity in Alzheimer's care and dementia-specific programming. Knowledge of geriatrics, memory care strategies, and working with individuals with disabilities or cognitive impairments. Excellent communication skills for engaging residents effectively while collaborating with families and healthcare teams. Experience developing innovative programs tailored to aging issues counseling and senior care needs. Demonstrated ability to manage schedules efficiently while balancing multiple activities simultaneously. Prior experience working with geriatric patients in home & community care settings is advantageous but not required. Pay:
$23.00 - $26.00 per hour
