A Recreational Therapist directs and coordinates recreational activities for people with disabilities or illness to help them improve their emotional and physical well-being, improve motor skills and increase confidence. Leads activities involving movement, sports, games, and other activities for brain stimulation. Assists patients with disabilities to learn to use public resources such as parks and public transportation, and integrate in the community. Works with people of all ages, in schools, nursing homes, clinics and other healthcare facilities, or in parks and recreation departments.

Job Description

AvaMed Workforce is a Healthcare Staffing Agency that staffs all of California State Correctional Facilities. At the moment we are in URGENT need of a Recreational Therapist to take on a Full-Time assignment at the correctional facility located in Blythe, CA .
Position Details:
40 Hours per week
Location:
Blythe, CA Schedule:
Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm (Orientation 1-2 weeks)
Rate:
$54/hr ($2,160/week) Must be Certified as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) Must have 1 Full-Year of experience as a licensed
CTRS Job Description:
Under the direction of the Institution's/Facility's designee, Recreation Therapist's duties/responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to, the following requirements. a. Develop and implement specialized recreation therapy services to Patient-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth. Such therapeutic interventions are designed to promote social interaction, to encourage beneficial and appropriate utilization of leisure time, and to provide Patient-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth with preparation for reentry into general population or other levels of treatment. b. Participate in the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IDTT) and coordinate services with primary clinicians, correctional counselors and other custody personnel. c. Evaluate recreation therapy needs for Patients-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth with particular attention to activities of daily living, communication skills, physical exercise, and positive coping strategies.
