A Recreational Therapist directs and coordinates recreational activities for people with disabilities or illness to help them improve their emotional and physical well-being, improve motor skills and increase confidence. Leads activities involving movement, sports, games, and other activities for brain stimulation. Assists patients with disabilities to learn to use public resources such as parks and public transportation, and integrate in the community. Works with people of all ages, in schools, nursing homes, clinics and other healthcare facilities, or in parks and recreation departments.

Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Recreation Therapist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will develop and implement therapeutic recreation programs that promote patients' physical, emotional, cognitive, and social well-being. Responsibilities Assess patients' recreational and therapeutic needs. Develop individualized treatment plans. Plan and facilitate therapeutic activities, including arts, crafts, music, games, fitness, and leisure programs. Conduct individual and group therapy sessions. Monitor patient progress and maintain accurate documentation. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals. Encourage positive social interaction and healthy coping strategies. Maintain a safe and supportive therapeutic environment. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation with an emphasis in Therapeutic Recreation. Minimum 12 months of relevant experience within the last 3 years . Completion of supervised fieldwork approved by NCTRC or
CBRPC . CTRS
certification preferred. Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills. Experience working with individuals with mental health conditions, developmental disabilities, or behavioral challenges is preferred.
