Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Activities Director to lead our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for seniors in our assisted living community. The ideal candidate will have a passion for creating a sense of community among our residents and will be responsible for planning and implementing a variety of recreational activities, social events, and programs. This role is essential in promoting a fulfilling and enriching lifestyle for our residents, and we are looking for someone who shares our commitment to providing exceptional care and service. Duties
  • Plan, organize, and supervise recreational activities, social events, and programs for residents, including arts and crafts, exercise classes, and entertainment events.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive activities program that is tailored to the needs and interests of our residents, including those with dementia and other age-related conditions.
  • Coordinate and lead therapeutic activities, such as recreational therapy, to promote physical and mental well-being.
  • Collaborate with caregivers and other team members to ensure that activities are designed to meet the individual needs of each resident.
  • Manage schedules for activities and events, ensuring that residents have a variety of options to choose from.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local community organizations and vendors to source entertainment and activities.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of activities and programs, making adjustments as needed to ensure that they meet the needs and preferences of our residents.
  • Provide dementia care and support to residents with cognitive impairments, ensuring that their needs are met and that they are able to participate in activities to the best of their ability.
Requirements:
Has completed
  • Experience working in senior care or assisted living, with a focus on activities and recreational therapy.
  • Proven experience in planning and implementing activities programs for seniors, including those with dementia and other age-related conditions.
  • Strong knowledge of aging issues and dementia care, including the principles of memory care.
  • Ability to manage schedules and coordinate with caregivers and other team members.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with residents, caregivers, and other team members.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in recreation therapy, gerontology, or a related field preferred.
  • Certification in recreation therapy or a related field is desirable.
