Under the direction of the Program Coordinator, the Production Supervisor provides practical instruction and mentorship in the filmmaking process while creating opportunities for participants to gain real-world experience on film sets and in production environments. This position moves beyond traditional classroom instruction by providing hands-on experience primarily in pre-production, screenwriting, and directing, but other skills are welcomed as well. The goal is to help participants develop the creative and technical skills needed to create many different types of entertaining, commercially viable, and purposeful forms of media . The Production Supervisor oversees the production of student films and classroom projects and may serve as a Producer, Director, Screenwriter, or Production Lead on studio and community-based projects. Ideal Candidate We are seeking a skilled filmmaker and production professional with demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas: Screenwriting and script development Film and video directing Short-form narrative filmmaking Producing and production management Story development and visual storytelling Film production and on-set leadership Casting and working with talent Shot composition, blocking, and directing actors The ideal candidate has professional filmmaking experience and is comfortable leading small film, commercial, corporate, or client-based productions with minimal oversight . Candidates should be able to translate professional film-industry practices into accessible, hands-on learning experiences for participants. Flexibility in work schedule and location is required. Job duties are normally performed at our studio but occasionally productions might take us to film locations in the community. Specific Duties Oversee all aspects of studio film and video productions , including concept development, script development, pre-production, production, post-production, locations, casting, scheduling, crew coordination, and production workflow. Serve as Producer and/or Director on Futures Films productions and other studio projects as needed. Provide hands-on instruction and mentorship in screenwriting, directing, and storytelling . Guide participants through the filmmaking process. Demonstrate professional on-set procedures, production etiquette, safety, communication, and workflow . Provide participants with opportunities to develop practical skills through film sets, internships, employment opportunities, community productions, and client-based projects . Support participants in developing creative concepts, scripts, storyboards, shot lists, production plans, and other pre-production materials . Collaborate with the Program Coordinator on research, project development, partnerships, and community outreach . Assist with communication and accessibility, including the use of assistive technology, communication devices, and adaptive equipment . Create opportunities for participants to make choices, practice skills, demonstrate abilities, and develop greater independence through creative and production activities. Advocate for and promote the rights, dignity, inclusion, and self-advocacy of participants. Research and coordinate accessible community activities, events, locations, and filming opportunities; arrange transportation and accompany participants on outings and productions as needed. I . Required Education & Experience Bachelors degree or higher in Film, Media Production, Film Studies, Television, Communications, or a related field OR Three to five years of professional experience working on short films, feature films, television, commercial, corporate, or other professional video productions. Demonstrated experience in film directing, screenwriting, producing, or production management . Experience working on professional or independent film sets with knowledge of production workflows and on-set protocols . Experience teaching, mentoring, coaching, or working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities is preferred. Proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro is preferred. Strong understanding of screenwriting, directing, visual storytelling, and film production . Experience working with clients or leading client-based film/video projects in a production or leadership capacity is preferred. II. Special Requirements Drives personal vehicle and/or agency vehicle to provide services, transport participants, drive to work sites and community locations, attend meetings and trainings, able to run errands as needed. Pass Criminal background check and Health Screening/TB Test prior to start. III. Physical Demands and Work Environment This position may require working in a variety of environments, including studios, offices, community locations, and film sets. Physical demands may include standing and walking for extended periods, operating and transporting film equipment, setting up and breaking down production equipment, and occasionally lifting or moving equipment and materials.
