Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Memory Care Activity Director to lead engaging and meaningful activities for residents in a specialized memory care community. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for enhancing the quality of life for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, and other cognitive impairments. As the Activity Director, you will design, implement, and oversee a variety of therapeutic and recreational programs tailored to meet residents' unique needs, fostering an environment of joy, social connection, and personal fulfillment. This role offers an opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of seniors while utilizing your skills in event planning, recreational therapy, and senior care. Responsibilities Develop and coordinate innovative activity programs that promote cognitive stimulation, physical activity, and emotional well-being for residents with memory impairments. Plan and execute engaging events, outings, and therapeutic activities that cater to residents' interests and abilities. Collaborate with caregiving staff to assess individual resident needs and adapt activities accordingly. Manage scheduling of daily activities to ensure consistent participation and engagement across all residents. Facilitate social interactions among residents to foster community spirit and reduce feelings of isolation. Maintain detailed records of resident participation, progress, and preferences to inform ongoing activity planning. Provide support with activities of daily living (ADLs) when necessary, promoting independence while ensuring safety. Counsel residents on aging issues related to memory loss and provide emotional support through recreational therapy techniques. Experience Proven experience working in assisted living facilities or nursing homes with a focus on memory care or Alzheimer's care. Strong background in event planning, recreational therapy, or senior care environments. Familiarity with dementia care strategies and best practices for engaging individuals with disabilities or cognitive impairments. Long-term care experience that demonstrates ability to manage schedules effectively and adapt activities for diverse needs. Excellent communication skills essential for working with residents, families, staff, and community partners. Knowledge of aging issues counseling, home & community care experience preferred but not required. Prior experience assisting with ADLs and implementing therapeutic programs tailored to seniors with memory challenges is highly desirable. Pay:
