PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
Evaluates and implements creative, individualized, and therapeutic activities for participants care plans. Conduct an initial assessment and scheduled reassessment of all participants. Trains staff on new recreational therapy activities and programs. Plans and offers varied monthly programs and uses group and individual oriented interventions to maximize participants' cognitive and functional abilities. Offers therapeutic activities daily for participants with special needs. Documents participant involvement in activities and revises care plans as needed. Actively participates in team discussions offering feedback, ideas, and suggestions both on a day-to-day basis and in staff meetings. Serve as a resource to staff and coordinate volunteer activities at the center. Performs other job duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
(EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
) BA degree in therapeutic recreation or related field required or 1-3 years of professional work experience with a minimum of one year experience working with the frail and elderly. Valid driver's license and automobile insurance in the State of Florida. Reliable transportation to meet visit schedule. Ability to use equipment with visual and auditory mechanisms. Ability to effectively communicate in English. Flexible schedule to meet the needs of participants. Ability to physically access any home i.e. navigate stairs and narrow spaces, tolerate heat and lack of air conditioning, in any area Company serves. Ability to manage stress. Ability to perform the essential functions and physical requirements (including, but not limited to: lifting participants and/or equipment, bending, pushing/pulling, kneeling) of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
COMPETENCIES
Satisfactorily complete competency requirements for this position.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Florida Driver's License. Recreational Therapist License Preferred.
