Job Description

Position Summary:
The National Honor Society Sponsor serves as the advisor and coordinator for the school's NHS chapter. The sponsor promotes the NHS pillars of scholarship, leadership, service, and character while guiding students in chapter activities, service projects, leadership development, and membership responsibilities. The sponsor works collaboratively with administration, staff, students, and the community to maintain a successful and active NHS program.
Reports To:
Activities Director and Building Administration Chapter Management:
Organize and oversee all NHS chapter activities and meetings. Maintain chapter records, membership rosters, and documentation. Ensure compliance with local chapter bylaws and national NHS guidelines. Communicate chapter information to students, parents, staff, and administration.
Membership and Selection:
Coordinate the NHS membership selection process in accordance with chapter bylaws. Verify student eligibility requirements. Facilitate faculty input and selection committee procedures. Conduct member induction ceremonies and recognition activities.
Student Leadership and Development:
Encourage leadership development among chapter members. Assist student officers in planning and conducting meetings and activities. Promote positive character, citizenship, and academic excellence. Support members in fulfilling NHS obligations and responsibilities.
Service Projects:
Coordinate chapter service projects and volunteer opportunities. Encourage meaningful student involvement in school and community service. Monitor and document member service hours as required by chapter guidelines. Foster partnerships with community organizations when appropriate.
Program Administration:
Prepare reports and maintain records required by the school and NHS. Attend sponsor meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities as needed. Manage chapter finances in accordance with district policies. Ensure student safety and appropriate supervision during NHS activities and events.
Additional Responsibilities:
Promote a positive image of the NHS chapter and school district. Attend NHS-related activities, ceremonies, and events. Perform other duties related to the position as assigned by the Activities Director and Building Administration Maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees, families and others
Qualifications:
Valid teaching license or district-approved sponsor qualifications. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to work effectively with students, staff, parents, and community members. Knowledge of NHS principles, policies, and procedures preferred. Ability to supervise student activities outside the regular school day.
Terms of Employment:
Length of assignment and compensation determined by the district's extracurricular salary schedule. Must meet all district requirements for extracurricular activity sponsors and advisors

Per Schedule Physical Requirements :
