Job Description
Teton Valley Parks and Recreation Executive Director The Teton Valley Parks and Recreation District is seeking a skilled leader to join our team as the Parks & Recreation District Executive Director! The Teton Valley Parks and Recreation District is seeking a skilled leader to join our team as Parks & Recreation Director. As Director of the Teton Valley Parks and Recreation District, this position performs a variety of professional, managerial, and executive duties related to planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and supervising the operations, maintenance, and business functions of public recreation programs and activities. The Teton Valley Parks and Recreation District (TVPR) is a newly formed district that is currently in the development phase. It does not currently manage or operate any facilities. But it is in discussions with the cities of Victor, Driggs, and Tetonia, and Teton County to determine responsibility and management of fields and facilities. The principal functions of the Director is to help provide the day-to-day activities supporting the development and operation of the TVPR.
This will include:
Recommend and enforce policies and administrative procedures for District operation. Interpret and implement the general philosophy and objectives of the board. Coordinate with non-profit organizations and the community to establish priorities. Promote the development of a broad and diversified program of activities consistent with the priorities of the community. Direct and coordinate the planning, acquisition, design, construction and/or renovation of recreation facilities under the responsibility of the District. Establish and maintain cooperative planning and working relationships with the school districts, other public agencies, private agencies, and other organizations. Interview, employ, assign and evaluate all classified and certified personnel as required. Prepare short and long-range plans; budgeting; and the coordination and administration of diversified community enrichment and public recreation programs. Prepare annual reports and operation manuals as necessary. Keep informed on developments in the parks and recreation education field on a local, state, and national basis. Keep abreast of all available grants or alternative sources of funding for both programming and facility development. Prepare a monthly report to advise the board of ongoing activities and/or developments pertaining to district operation including upcoming events. Manage website, social media accounts, and other recreation software. Perform other related duties as required and/or requested by the TVPR District Board of Directors including supporting meetings, preparing agendas and minutes, following state statues/open meeting laws.Required Qualifications:
Possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. OR, Possess a minimum of 5 years progressive professional experience at the supervisory level. Demonstrated experience planning and developing programs. Experience in the operation of computers and word processing software, i.e. Microsoft Word, Publisher (or other desktop publishing software), and Microsoft Excel. Possess a general understanding of sports programs and scheduling Exhibit a professional attitude committed to quality services Be able and willing to work flexible hours Possess or can obtain anIdaho Driver's License Desired Qualifications:
Possess a bachelor's degree in the field of Parks and Recreation Administration, Public Administration, Business, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
