Non-Eligible Position Summary The Hispanic Heritage Celebration Director is a stipend-based extracurricular position responsible for leading the planning, coordination, and implementation of the district's annual Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations and related cultural programming. This role ensures that events honor and celebrate the diverse cultures, histories, and contributions of Hispanic/Latino communities while fostering student, staff, and community engagement. Key Responsibilities Event Leadership & Program Planning Design, organize, and implement a series of engaging events, activities, and educational programs during Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 to October 15). Collaborate with staff, students, and community partners to create authentic, inclusive, and meaningful celebrations. Ensure programming reflects cultural richness, diversity, and relevance to the school community. Collaboration & Communication Serve as the primary liaison between school leadership, student groups, staff, and community organizations. Facilitate regular planning meetings with staff and volunteers. Promote celebrations through effective communication channels, including newsletters, social media, and school-wide announcements. Coordinate with security teams and local law enforcement to ensure safety at large events. Cultural Awareness & Engagement Partner with teachers to provide instructional and cultural resources connected to Hispanic Heritage. Incorporate opportunities for student leadership, performances (such as dance and music), and creative contributions. Support school-wide equity and inclusion goals by elevating Hispanic voices and perspectives. Administrative Support Manage event logistics, including scheduling, resource allocation, and budgeting. Coordinate vendors, performers, and guest speakers as needed. Oversee the creation and distribution of promotional materials, including event flyers in both English and Spanish. Provide a final report or summary of activities, participation, and recommendations for future events.
Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree or relevant experience in education, cultural programming, event planning, or a related field.
Experience:
Demonstrated ability to organize events, collaborate with diverse stakeholders, and manage projects effectively.
Knowledge:
Strong cultural competency and knowledge of Hispanic/Latino history, culture, and contributions.
Skills:
Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
Language:
Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
Preference:
Preference given to current certified staff. Physical Requirements & Working Conditions Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle to travel between district schools. Must be able to operate a variety of equipment, including computers and copiers. Requires light work, including walking or standing to a significant degree during events.
