A Recreational Therapist directs and coordinates recreational activities for people with disabilities or illness to help them improve their emotional and physical well-being, improve motor skills and increase confidence. Leads activities involving movement, sports, games, and other activities for brain stimulation. Assists patients with disabilities to learn to use public resources such as parks and public transportation, and integrate in the community. Works with people of all ages, in schools, nursing homes, clinics and other healthcare facilities, or in parks and recreation departments.

Job Description

Position Summary The Wellness Activities Facilitator will plan, organize and implement recovery based activities for clients assigned to Inpatient Services as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Lives out the INcompass Healthcare promise by consistently displaying compassion, treating all with dignity, and providing exceptional care for everyone. Incorporates the six principles of trauma informed care throughout all aspects of their work. Working from a trauma competent orientation, plans, develops and implements recovery based treatment activities in Activities in Daily Living (ADL,) education, recreation and leisure, physical and creative and expressive experiences for clients admitted to Inpatient Services. Plans and participates in group activities as assigned. Conducts Wellness Activity Assessments in a timely manner and incorporates findings in the Wellness Activity Assessments Plan of Care for each patient. Documents treatment by following established policies and procedures. Maintains Wellness Activity inventory and ensures necessary supplies are ordered. Attends and participates in shift reports. Responds to inpatient clinical emergencies as needed. Provides services to clients as a "back-up" to the inpatient discharge planner Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Bachelor's degree in recreation, Occupational, Music or Art Therapy, Psychology or related field and one year experience in a mental health setting.
