We strive to deliver excellence in health services for decades to come. Position Summary We are seeking an energetic and compassionate Activity Aide to join our team! In this vital role, you will create engaging, meaningful activities that promote social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall well-being for our residents. Your enthusiasm and creativity will help foster a lively, supportive environment where seniors feel valued, connected, and empowered. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of our residents while developing your skills in senior care and recreational therapy. Education and Experience High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. Previous experience in activity therapy services preferred. Certificates, Licensure, and Registrations Current Basic Life Support (BLS) with Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification approved by the American Heart Association upon hire or within the first 60 days of employment and must maintain a valid BLS certification throughout your employment. Essential Duties, Functions, and Responsibilities Planning, providing, and developing activities of daily living that include but are not limited to bathing or showering, dressing, getting in and out of bed or a chair, walking, using the toilet and eating. Maintains awareness of comfort and safety of residents. Submits purchasing requests for area of responsibility within budget parameters. Prepare a monthly calendar of activities that meets the resident's physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs with the Assisted Living Director. Creates, plans and implements activities that are conducive to the current residents' desires and emotional and spiritual needs in consideration of their physical and mental abilities with the Assisted Living Director. Develops, plans and provides individual activities for residents who choose not to participate or are unable to participate in group activities. Involve and encourage high-functioning residents to assist the Activities Department by leading activities, suggesting events, providing help in developing the monthly calendar, creating and distributing the quarterly newsletter. Plans, organizes and participates in Special Events. Encourages resistant residents to participate in activities. Tracks attendance of residents in accordance with state policies. Document activity assessments and residents progress per health system protocol. Conducts daily activities following policies and procedures. Interacts with residents and their families to ensure activity needs of residents are being met. Assists in preparation of quarterly newsletter that is used as an information tool for residents and families in addition to being a marketing tool for the community. Maintains an inventory of activity supplies and ensures supplies are in proper working order. Communicate with other managers to ensure a positive teamwork environment. Participates in and assists with procedures associated with emergency drills and actual emergency situations within the community. Educates residents on emergency plans as directed.
