Description:
The Arts Coordinator is a full-time position that will support the rollout of St. Martin Parish Schools' whole-school STEAM arts integration approach.
Job Summary:
Lead the rollout of whole-school STEAM arts integration across the magnet school, share best practices, and troubleshoot any implementation issues that may arise. Communicate and collaborate with teachers to facilitate the smooth implementation of the arts-infused STEAM program at the appropriate magnet school(s). Assist school team with the development of arts content integrated across core academic subjects, incorporating research-based approaches, developing course sequences, and designing hands-on learning opportunities. Collaborate with the Project Director to assess and identify professional development needs of staff at the appropriate magnet school(s). Work with artists in residence to facilitate opportunities for the artists to provide coaching and professional learning relevant to identified needs. Deliver job-embedded professional development to educators and other staff at the appropriate magnet school. Empower teachers to develop competency with interdisciplinary and arts-integrated approaches via in-class coaching and co-teaching. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) from an accredited institution of higher education. Valid Louisiana teacher's license. Four years of relevant experience in an educational position focused on STEM, arts integration approaches, and problem-based learning. Experience in teacher development and coaching of curricula units, instructional sequences, and performance-based assessments. Equipment Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone. Travel Requirements Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiates instruction based upon student learning styles. Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts. Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students. Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed. Ability to organize and coordinate work. Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents. Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work. Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards Works in standard office and school building environments.
