Job Description

GLC Government Services is seeking a Recreational Therapist to work a long-term government contract with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) . NIH is the world's largest biomedical center conducting clinical trials and research to advance healthcare worldwide. The clinical center is a 200+ state of the art facility exclusively focused on research. The Recreational Therapy (RT) Section of the Rehabilitation Medicine Department (RMD) provides clinical and research services to support initiatives in the Clinical Center. Services include clinical evaluation and treatment of biomedical research patients and independent and/or collaborative research with institutes to identify and contribute understanding of functional outcomes related to natural history or drug efficacy trials.
Schedule :
Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm. No weekends or holidays .
Requirements:
Have a minimum of 3 years of documented recent clinical experience in the treatment of medically complex patients in a hospital setting. Active NCTRC certification Possess current CPR certification.
Job Duties:
  • Assessment of ongoing needs, implementation of treatment plan, evaluation, clinical care program development, and collaboration with Institute Principal Investigators to determine the role of Recreational Therapy concerning the NIH patient populations.
  • Patient evaluation/treatment/ and discharge planning to effectively identify patient's strengths and continued challenges related to their overall health and well-being.
  • Selection and use of outcome measures to document functional outcomes of clinical care or collaborative institute research
  • Effective team collaboration in interdisciplinary meetings
