Little Sisters of the Poor, Holy Family Residence Saint Paul, MN Job Details Part-time $19 an hour 17 hours ago Qualifications Resident conversation engagement Program management Professional ethics Working with seniors Older adults Resident rapport building Wellness activities for care recipients Full Job Description Summary/Objective Responsible for ensuring the spiritual, social, recreational, functional and emotional needs of each resident is met and maintained. Involving the resident in person-centered individualized pursuits and/or activities of choice, while facilitating inclusion and engagement in community life. These services are consistent with the home's standards and philosophy and are in compliance with all regulations, codes, policies and procedures that govern the facility.
Requirements and Qualifications:
A high school education or equivalent is preferred. Musical ability for singing and musical instruments. Must display a professional and positive image of the mission of the Little Sisters of the Poor and have the willingness to uphold and promote the moral and ethical standards of conduct consistent with the Home's spirit, mission, and values, and with its corporate compliance policy; Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with residents; Collaborate with residents to inspire the human spirit so that the lives of the elderly poor are enriched in collaboration with their individual desires; Must be willing to show compassion and empathy to provide care and support to the residents; Ability to take charge and full responsibility for planning, implementing and directing departmental activity program suited to the needs and interests of residents and adjunct to the active treatment program that encourages restoration to self-care and resumption of normal activities; Organizational skills to sustain a successful Activities Program and to assure its ongoing growth; Ability to take initiative to direct others with enthusiasm, and to collaborate effectively with individuals and groups; Flexibility of hours to meet the Activities Program goals, including weekends, holidays, and seasonal times of the year; Ability to display compassion, kindness and respect for the elderly. Ability to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
Essential Functions:
Manuals, Policies/Procedures and Mission Integration materials for the Little Sisters are located in the Activities Department. A personal copy of current Employee Handbook, the Home's Supplement and Benefit Guide are provided at time of hire. Help Develop and plan and lead Musical Activities for Residents Help to plan, prepare, conduct and direct with the cooperation and participation of the residents, daily activities for groups and individuals according to their needs, abilities, desires, and interests; Conduct recreational activities such as; exercise groups, singing, games, parties, religious activities; intellectual activities such as; tours, attending plays, and movies; Encourage hobbies among residents in groups or individually; Encourage social interaction among residents through group and recreation activities; Assist in documenting each resident's participation, progress, and response to the Activities Program quarterly; Assist with preparation of monthly activities schedule; publicize the program among residents; Have sufficient knowledge of routines of the nursing care area to enable the schedule of program activities without conflicting with those routines or affect the quality of nursing care; Be aware of resident restorative nursing and craft activities so that efforts can be coordinated by means of realistic goals for the residents; Attend resident care conferences; Attend workshops and Activities Programs of similar institutions to enhance knowledge of techniques and innovations that would be of value to the Activities Program; Maintain supplies and equipment; be responsible for the appearance of the work area; Maintain strict confidentiality of resident's personal information and health status; Perform any other duties necessary to fulfill the primary duties and responsibilities of the position, as well as those assigned by management personnel.
