Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Activities Director to lead engaging programs and foster vibrant social environments within our senior living community. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in event planning, recreational therapy, and senior care, with a deep commitment to enhancing residents' quality of life. As Activities Director, you will develop, coordinate, and implement diverse activities tailored to residents' interests and needs, promoting social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall well-being. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors by creating enjoyable and enriching experiences. Responsibilities Plan, organize, and execute a variety of recreational activities, including arts and crafts, outings, fitness classes, and memory care programs tailored to residents' capabilities. Coordinate resident events that foster community engagement and socialization while ensuring safety protocols are followed. Develop innovative programs that address the unique needs of residents with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, or other cognitive impairments. Build strong rapport with residents by understanding their preferences, histories, and individual care requirements to personalize activities effectively. Collaborate with caregiving staff and interdisciplinary teams to integrate activity plans into overall resident care strategies. Manage scheduling of activities to ensure consistent engagement while balancing residents' routines and health considerations. Maintain detailed records of participation and resident feedback to continually improve program offerings. Utilize Microsoft Office tools for planning documentation, resident communication, and reporting purposes. Experience Proven experience in activity planning within assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or senior care environments. Strong background in recreational therapy, geriatrics, or memory care programs with familiarity in dementia and Alzheimer's care practices. Demonstrated ability to develop engaging programs that promote socialization and mental stimulation for seniors with diverse needs. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or cognitive impairments in a caregiving or therapeutic capacity. Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with residents, families, staff, and community partners. Prior leadership experience in team coordination and program development within long-term care or senior living settings is highly desirable. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for planning schedules, documenting activities, and communicating effectively across teams.
