Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a passionate and energetic Activities Director to lead engaging programs and recreational activities that enrich the lives of residents in a senior care setting. In this vital role, you will design, coordinate, and oversee a variety of events and therapeutic activities tailored to the unique needs of individuals with memory impairments, disabilities, or age-related challenges. Your enthusiasm and creativity will foster a vibrant community atmosphere, promoting social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall well-being for residents. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day through dynamic programming and compassionate engagement. Responsibilities Develop and implement diverse activity programs that cater to residents' interests, abilities, and care needs, including recreational therapy, memory care activities, and social events. Coordinate with care teams to ensure activities support residents' physical, emotional, and cognitive health, assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed. Manage scheduling of events to maximize participation while maintaining flexibility for individual preferences and health considerations. Lead group activities such as arts and crafts, music sessions, outings, games, and special celebrations that foster community spirit. Work closely with residents to assess their interests and capabilities, providing personalized engagement that promotes independence and joy. Collaborate with family members, caregivers, and staff to ensure activities align with residents' care plans and therapeutic goals. Maintain detailed records of participation, resident feedback, and activity outcomes to evaluate program effectiveness and improve offerings. Qualifications Proven experience in event planning within assisted living facilities or nursing homes; experience in long-term care or home & community care is highly desirable. Strong background in senior care environments with knowledge of Alzheimer's disease, dementia care, memory care strategies, and caregiving techniques. Familiarity with recreational therapy practices and working with individuals with disabilities or cognitive impairments. Excellent communication skills to effectively engage residents, families, and team members while fostering a positive environment. Ability to manage schedules efficiently while adapting to changing resident needs or health conditions. Knowledge of aging issues counseling and social work principles related to senior populations is a plus. Compassionate attitude combined with organizational skills necessary for planning engaging activities that promote socialization and well-being.
