A Recreational Therapist directs and coordinates recreational activities for people with disabilities or illness to help them improve their emotional and physical well-being, improve motor skills and increase confidence. Leads activities involving movement, sports, games, and other activities for brain stimulation. Assists patients with disabilities to learn to use public resources such as parks and public transportation, and integrate in the community. Works with people of all ages, in schools, nursing homes, clinics and other healthcare facilities, or in parks and recreation departments.

Responsibilities:

Ability to work remotely in assigned location / region; Ability to travel via personal vehicle or AWARE vehicle to designated cities / regions to meet with clients and provide services; Experience in assessment and observational skills; Experience planning and implementing TR interventions to assist clients in increasing independence in lifestyle; Experience researching and applying evidence-based practices in Therapeutic Recreation; Design TR protocols, session plans and processes; Implements interventions that are sensitive to the client age, cultural background, stage of development, limitations of disabling conditions, skill and experience level; Document and evaluate services for efficiency and quality Excited to join our organization? AWARE recreation therapists earn $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year. Requirements Talents, skills, and abilities: A bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation which meets the standards of NCTRC. Completion of a NCTRC approved internship. CTRS certification at hire strongly preferred or the ability to obtain national certification of CTRS within one year of hire.
