Abigail House is seeking a creative, organized, compassionate Full-Time Activities Director to join our team in a long-term care environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for enhancing the quality of life for our residents through meaningful activities, social engagement, and personalized programs. In this vital role, you will develop, coordinate, and oversee a diverse range of recreational and social activities tailored to meet the unique needs of seniors, including those with memory care requirements. Your enthusiasm and creativity will foster a vibrant community environment, promote resident well-being, and build meaningful connections with residents and their families. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact in a team-oriented setting dedicated to enhancing quality of life. The Activities Director is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive activities program that meets the physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of our residents, including those living with memory impairment.
Responsibilities include:
Develop and execute engaging activity programs that promote resident participation, independence, and quality of life Plan and coordinate special events, celebrations, entertainment, and community partnerships Create activities that support residents with varying abilities, including those in memory care Complete activity assessments, care plans, progress notes, and required documentation Maintain activity supplies, equipment, and department organization Maintain accurate documentation related to activity participation and resident preferences Collaborate with nursing and interdisciplinary team members to support individualized resident care plans Ensure activities are inclusive and appropriate for a diverse resident population Manage activity schedules, calendars, and program logistics effectively Supervise activity staff and volunteers as assigned Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and facility regulations
Qualifications:
Must be APC (Activity Professional Certified) certified, REQUIRED Prior experience working in senior care, nursing homes, assisted living, or a similar healthcare environment preferred Knowledge and understanding of Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), dementia care, and memory care needs Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment Strong event planning and execution skills Able to promote and maintain a teamwork focused environment Strong interpersonal and communication skills Excellent time management, organizational, and prioritization skills Ability to work effectively in a diverse environment with residents, families, and team members Strong communication, creativity, and leadership skills Ability to motivate and engage residents with compassion and enthusiasm What we offer: Health insurance Dental insurance Paid Time off 401(k) Supportive team environment Work/life balance Join us as our Full-Time Activities Director and become a vital part of creating joyful moments that enhance the lives of our residents.
